John Norrington
I cannot recommend John Norrington highly enough. I have progressed from complete novice to a race winning driver within one season and all the credit goes to John. Having had instruction from several driving and track day coaches in the past I can say that John’s decades of race experience and further training as an advanced level coach made a meaningful difference. The technical driving skills that he taught me increased my speed significantly (and this is where most driving coaches start and end) but it was his coaching in regards to the psychology required for my best driving performance, race strategies, risk/reward decisions and how to manage and influence the behaviour of cars around me which helped me to initially drive very quickly on track, and then able to fight through the pack and maintain the lead in races. Although I am an amateur I feel that John could have helped me even if I’d had a lot more experience because he is a thoughtful person who works in partnership with you and ultimately, because it helps that behind the wheel, he is very, very fast!
Just like to say a quick thank you for your time at Snetterton the other weekend. As you know it rained after you explained the entry lines into severel corners so we never got to try them with any pace. But it did manage to dry up late on in the day so i put them to use, and what a differance they made. It made me realise the feeling that I had been getting from the car before was all wrong.
This showed itself at Brands, pulling back 7 places in the race. I was lapping 1.6 seconds quicker in the dry and a minimum of 3 seconds in the wet, very very pleased as I beat my main competitor.
Simpler when you know how. Even more so when you know why. One fun day and many thanks JN it was simply great.
Why do we take it for granted we were born with perfect driving skills when professional drivers at all levels use ongoing driver coaching to improve and maintain top level performance. Looking forward to the next time.
